The Departments of Mathematics and Physics offer the following two bachelor programmes:
The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics offers a solid as well as broad education in mathematics. Its goal is to introduce students to fundamental mathematical terms, structures and methods, complemented with basic knowledge in physics and computer science. The knowledge, the practiced scientific thinking as well as the interdisciplinary competencies that are acquired in the bachelor programme prepare the student for the challenging subsequent master programmes. The technical and methodological knowledge base is supplemented by freely chosen courses of general education from the humanities, social sciences and political sciences.
The Bachelor programme in Computational Science and Engineering offers an education in computer-aided engineering and sciences. These are interdisciplinary, and application- and solution oriented and fundamentally support the application of computers. Additionally to knowledge in application areas in natural and engineering sciences, students are taught the necessary mathematical methods and informatics’ tools in these areas. The bachelor programme should prepare the student primarily for the subsequent master programmes.
